4 more weeks....?

We had our 36 week appointment on Wednesday, and our last ultrasound to check Owen's growth. I am completely in love !!! He may be a pain in the ass right now, or more like pain in the ribs and bladder, but that little face had me speechless. I know I've seen these before, but for some reason he really looked like my baby this time. It must be the fact that he is chubby as all get out, and bigger than Brian was when he was born now. Brian was laughing and smiling when we were getting the 3D images of him, so I know he was in awe as well. Jeannie came with us and it was fun to share her grandson with her a month before he is here. The measurements again placed him in the 95th percentile for growth and estimated him at 7 lbs 15 oz...I was in shock! I was expecting maybe 7 lbs or maybe a little more....but 8 lbs nearly?!?! I really hope these measurements are faulty. At least he is proportional as far as head and belly go.

When we got to talk to Dr. Pringle, she was happy with his growth, and found that it was on track from the last ultrasound, so he is not growing out of control. My blood pressure was fine, and his heart rate again was around 140 bpm. I have lost 4 lbs these past 2 weeks and she was worried about my caloric intake. I told her I definitely am not eating as much, but my swelling up and disappeared too. I have skinny feet again for a while! My belly measured 38 cm and the ultrasound measured me at 38.5 weeks. All the amniotic fluid and his head circumference were fine too. We did my first internal check and she said there was softening happening, but cervix is closed and baby has not dropped. grrr! She gave me another little talk about how a big baby might be a problem as far as shoulders go. She seemed to be preparing me for the possibility of a c-section. She said they would usually try a normal delivery up to 10 lbs, but they would maybe do a quickie US the week of my due date to see what his size is estimated at. No induction. She would like to see me go into labor naturally. me too...and soon please!!

I am feeling generally ok, work is busy thanks to ice and snow, and exhausting. We have officially made my last day Jan 22nd, or before if I need to. I got a cortisone shot in my thumb, OW, but has helped tremendously!!! I still wear a wrap just to be extra protective. I will try my best from here on out to make these braxton hicks contractions real and regular!! Come on Owen!!! My next weekly appointment is on my birthday next Wednesday, the 6th.
