Spring is here!!

It has been a fun 2 weeks! Owen has let me sleep for 6-8 hour stretches at night which makes for a happy and more tolerant mommy. He gets up at 6 or 7am starving and crying...but he is just sooo happy to be eating that it is almost funny. He still wants to eat every 2 hours but some feedings we can stretch to 3 hours. He is engaging more now which also accounts for the fun factor. He will follow me around the room with his eyes and hold my gaze for 30 minutes watching me make weird faces. He will smile but it is a precious 3 seconds before it is gone again. He is smiling more and more though so I am confident that he will be laughing some day soon! He is sticking his tongue out to mimic me which is too cute considering his tongue is still a bit heart shaped. There is also lots to talk about. OOhs and ahhhs are the vocab words this week and he likes to talk to the rattles, wall stickers, and his little octopus hanging in the einstein gym :) He has held rattles and glanced at his hands but Im not sure he knows it yet.

I can tell you that, like many boys, he LOOOVES naked time. After I take a shower and he is ready to be changed and waking from a morning nap, he is stripped down and we lay on the floor and play. It is by far my favorite thing to do in the morning and I am sad that I will have to miss this time when I start working. It is when we get our best mommy / baby time in. I will also add that I got peed on twice this morning during naked time ( an inevitable drawback) I forgive him...

Also like many babies, he loves his lights and music. I have used everything with a light on it in my house (including the remote) to make him happy. I have tried to recall every possible song I have every learned to sing to baby O, too. My latest few are Bare Necessities from Jungle book and the Song That Never Ends...yes it goes on and on my friend...
He still has his "witching hours" every night right when we are wating dinner. We also still swear by the exercise ball, swaddling, pacifiers, and singing. We have gotten so many real cries with real tears now...it really does break your heart!

We have started going out much more now and had lots of visitors. Brian's super Aunt Carrie and her family visited this week and Owen got lots of hugs. We went to visit my work today too, and they couldn't get over his chubby cheeks! I also quit the gym today only to sign up for one closer to my home, and have to go to a physical therpay evaluation about the weakness in my leg. I am still having inner thigh weakness and she wants to make sure I do not have nerve damage. Luckily Owen has eager gigis and mimis to help out with all our social events ;) Brian and I even got to go out to the ol' bar to watch basketball and hang out with friends a couple weekends. Even though I missed him, I highly reccommend it, mommys!

This weekend we planned to go watch daddy run the 10k downtown but it seems it may be a bit too cold, in the 30's. I will however get to go watch Wicked with marcie and gigi tomorrow, yay!! Owen will be home with Daddy so I better get pumpin! Good luck Daddy!

  1. So glad to hear that Owen is sleeping longer stretches at night! What is with the inner thigh weakness? I hadn't heard about this yet. I hope everything is alright!

  2. 2 months old, Owen! It's funny how different babies can be...a friend's baby is 6 months old and only 13 pounds...and Owen's 2 months old and 11ish pounds!?! I love it!
