Summer Fun

Summer fun in the summer heat this past week! We ventured to my parents house ( Mimi and Grandpap) last weekend and it was a nice break to be out of the house and visiting! We tried to show him off to a few friends too :) We also tried to swim in our pool but a few cool nights made it too cold for baby legs.

These pictures are from our neighborhood pool at home. I swear Owen was having fun...although he may look bored in these pictures :) He was watching all the kids play, and they were really excited to show him all their toys. He completely floats. He was asleep for the first 30 minutes we were there, so Brian and I got to hang out with the neighbors and catch up.

He is a real observer. We call him "serious" but he really takes the time to suck in everything around him, looks at every object on the page of a book, and every face and noise he investigates. Even walking around the yard, he wanted to check out the tree. He reached for it, it went up his nose and he was offended! He finally took interest in eating from a spoon this week too! He was watching me eat ice cream intently, so we raced home and he ate a good amount of banana. It was the first time he actually opened his mouth to accept the spoon, and swallow it! So we have been eating a little for dinner.

We have also cracked down on the bedtime routine. When he was sick, he really got off schedule. Now he is much better at putting himself to sleep. Especially if he wakes up in the middle of the night. We get home from work, play for about 45 minutes with the dogs, then have a bottle and eat some food, take a bath, settle down for about 30 minutes, nurse, then in bed by 730-8pm. He is also showing little signs of teething. Sophie the Giraffe is a beautiful little toy, perfect for gumming on.

We have also managed to get many more gut bustin laughs out of this guy. Like I've said before. You have to earn them. Although sometimes you just look at him and you re hilarious. But usually I have to tickle his legs, neck, tummy, or back, blow bubbles, or sing the sesame street song. We have gotten this on video a few times, but we have an HD camera. None of the sites like to upload the format, so I am working on how to change it. So far, shutterfly is still my best bet. We will be trying our best to take more videos. He is trying his best to balance while sitting, and I think he is close to crawling. He is a mean scooter. Walking, as well, is just around the corner. We may take off any minute!
