My baby is one!!!! How a year can fly! We have had so much fun, and as time goes by you start to forget the crappy nights :) I guess this is the beginning of pregnancy amnesia :) Don't worry though...no little one coming anytime soon. Owen unfortunately had the worst first birthday ever. He had diarrhea and vomiting that soon turned into RSV which then added his first ear infection. We went to the doctor 2 times that week to check on his lungs to make sure he did not need a nebulizer, but amazingly he pulled through without one. He cried for 45 minutes straight the morning of his birthday then fell asleep in my arms. I had to give him up to Brian to then take to Gigis. It was horrible. I felt like a horrible mommy going to work. It felt seriously wrong but I had taken too much time off as it was. Luckily we have wonderful family to help us out and he stayed with loved ones for the week. Even Brian was able to watch him for a day. He was a new little man by last friday and it was the first day we saw him smile or heard him laugh in 10 days. I almost started to forget what it was like for a bit! Soo....even though he was feeling fine, we rescheduled his party for this weekend. We wanted him extra receptive to all those people and also wanted to make sure Sawyer could come. But we may luck out with the weather as it will be much warmer...50's!
We also had to reschedule his 1 year appointment for today. I was afraid he was going to loose it when we walked in like he did last week. But...he was AWESOME. First of all he measured 29 3/4 inches, which is a little over an inch more than 3 months ago. He is 23.5 lbs which apparently put him right at the 50th percentile for both. His head is 90th! All brain baby!
He was such a charmer: smiling at everyone, pointing and all the objects in the room, walking around trying to chat up the other little ones, and not even shedding a tear for his shot. I was so proud of him! She was impressed with all his gross motor skills of walking, crawling, kicking a ball, and his fine motor is fine. We did discuss his lack of words. She said that by 15 months he needs to start calling me and brian, and saying words like more, cup, ball, dog. He is really close but no dice. I'm sure he will catch up. He looooves his books and reads 7 in a row, sitting in your lap.
As you can see from the pictures, Owen got his swing, ball pit, and wagon for his b-day! He is always a little unsure at first. He has already pointed and mounted the swing again after work one day, and while in the garage, made me open it so he could push his wagon around. Hopefully we can fit any other gifts he gets in the garage this weekend! He and I cannot WAIT for warmer weather!!! He is desperate to get outside and play :)

10 days with no laugh??? That makes me so sad. :o( And WOW! with that brain size...this explains all his thinker poses. ;O) Genius alert!
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait to celebrate with you all this weekend! ::hugs::
