4 to the Core!

Owen is 4! I officially feel like a mom, not just someone playing a mom to little babies, but a mom that is raising a boy, growing into a man, to become a school age person who eventually and hopefully contributes to society! Phew!

Owen is just about down the middle as far as growth. He is 36.5 lbs ( 56th percentile) and 41 inches ( 60th percentile). Poor thing had 5 shots today! 3 in one arm and 2 in the other. This is really the first time I have seen him cry after getting shots. He didn't even peep during them, but he said 'mommy this one on the top hurt really bad but I was brave. Do they have lollipops?'  Bless him! Good news though, he does not need anymore shots until he is 11! We discussed eating habits, napping ( continue  as they need it!) and preparing for kindergarten. Dr. Deal was on board with staying at Krissys as long as she says he is doing well.

Owen's party was so much fun, so many people, and ridiculous! I bet it was so fun for him to be with all his friends. The kids wore themselves out at Pump It Up. 19 of his friends plus some siblings! It was worse than Christmas on the gift front! woowzers! He got some great stuff though! Lots of trucks, puzzles, paint and clay, disney junior stuff, figurines, and super heroes. From Gigi and Grandpa he got a good load of games for his Leap-pad which is a big hit. From Mimi and Granpap he got some cool rescue vehicles legos, and a space hopper. From us, a trampoline and Wall-E toys.

We decided to keep Owen at Krissys another year for preschool. It is nice to have the kids together, and Owen is learning more there than he would at preschool anyway ( according to moms with older kids). He is writing his name fairly well, and knows all his letter sounds, and is now working on sight words and phonics. There is also not a worry about emotional maturity, counting, body parts, or gross and fine motor skills so we are good to go! He is an average colorer, can color between most the lines, and does well when asked but does not have a huge interest in coloring on his own. He has a fantastic imagination when he plays with cars, trucks, figures, robots, stuffed animals, pirates etc and makes up really fun stories and intricate story lines. He is also starting to read a little of the early reader books and recognizing words, sounding out 3 letter words and reading his name!

He is such a sweet older brother as well. He watches out for his sister, and lets me know if she is going up the stairs! He tickles her belly and shares his food. He is still a little rough with her sometimes, but I think they just need to learn their boundaries, Kendall thinks head butts are hilarious! They love to play on the new trampoline, and I like to let them roam around outside and watch them when they don't know I can see them :) He and Kendall do pretty well communicating, and it is so cute! Owen will run inside and tell me 'mommy! Kendall said Owen! or Kendall said flower jump fence hurley!'

There has been a lot of sickness this past month. Just winter I guess. There has been colds, pink eye, and norovirus. ugh! Thankfully we have not had to seek treatment that often. Owen will see the allergist in a couple months to check up on the peanut/ nut and egg allergy. Im just praying that he keeps growing out of it, and I won't have to send him to school with an epipen and fear!

In other news, Owen did great with his swimming lessons, and I have made the kids members of the gym. I am hoping we can continue the swimming, and the kids can play at the gym while mommy works out! He will also start U5 soccer next month with practice and games and everything! see? REAL mom...
