Well, the verdict is in! BOY! Yep, that was a surprise, but a welcomed one!! We had the regular ultrasound first and went through his anatomy head to toe....even though the little stubborn monkey was upside down and hiding his cute face! Kidneys, liver, heart all good. When we got to the "up the butt shot" ( as we called it in grad school anatomy class) the tech asked us ..." You know what that is??" I knew immediately and said "oh my god is it a boy?" and Brian struggled to match my fantastic ultrasound reading ability... :) She kindly pointed out the "extra" appendage growing there between the cute little curled up legs. There is no denying it now! Its a little Brian! He was of course ecstatic, yep alarmingly calm through the whole thing. He did laugh frequently which I interpreted as uncontrollable happiness and speechlessness.
The 3D ultrasound of the face was very difficult. I tried different positions, emptying my bladder, etc. to get his face towards us. He finally looked in our direction long enough to get some decent shots. I think I may see a dimple chin ;) Knowing he is a he and seeing his little squishy face and little open and closing mouth made his much more REAL! I am feeling the little wiggle monster every 2 hours and I now have full out conversations with him and sing to him. I hope he likes John Lennon....
My blood pressure was perfect, and all spina bifida tests were fine. Heart rate was 156 and my uterus is to my belly button now. I am feeling pretty good now...and San Fransisco was fantastic! Now I just gotta get my money bags out and go look for the cutest baby boy crap on the planet!!!
Our next appointment is on October 7th, 24 weeks. Nothing too exciting at that appointment other than it is our 3rd anniversary! Enjoy the photos if you can make out what they are :)
